vaudeville actThe vaudeville act, “Make ‘Em Laugh & Sing”, from Manchester, Massachusetts, paid a visit to Crosby Commons Assisted Living community in Shelton on Friday, June 28 as part of the Journey of Dreams program at the assisted living community on the Wesley Village campus.

The vaudeville team fulfilled a life-long wish for Crosby Commons’ resident, Bob Shields, of being part of a vaudeville act.  Bob thoroughly enjoyed the knee-slapping humor and one-liners from this talented family of vaudevillians, Elaine and Robert Jacobs, Stephen Vrattos and Thankful Bert.

The Journey of Dreams program invites residents living on the Wesley Village campus (Bishop Wicke Health and Rehabilitation Center, and Crosby Commons and Wesley Heights independent and assisted living communities) to write down their personal wishes, goals, or desires.  Staff enlists the assistance of family, friends, and volunteers to make each resident's dream become a reality. Regardless of the types of wishes, the emphasis is on helping residents continue to achieve their goals, regardless of where they are on life’s journey.

About Elizabeth Bemis

In 1998, I drove past an assisted living community construction site, learned that it was part of United Methodist Homes and realized the next stop on my professional journey was to work for a mission driven organization. Soon after, I joined the team as Executive Director of our Middlewoods of Farmington community and later served as Regional Manager for the Middlewoods properties before accepting my current role as Vice President of Marketing, Promotions, and Assisted Living Operations. I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, reading, walking, and love working alongside our staff, residents, and families to build strong communities that reflect the mission, vision, and values of United Methodist Homes.

Our Blog is a 2016 Platinum Generations Award Winner! The Generations Award is an annual international competition for excellence in senior marketing recognizing professionals who have communicated to the 50+ Mature Markets.
