Values in Action… The Difference a Mission Makes!

United Methodist Homes Recognizes 2013 “Values in Action” Winners! Caring Relationships, Enriching Lives…. those are not just words on a paper. Those words reflect 140 years of developing a mission that defines the integrity of our work. Our staff lives and acts upon those words each day as we care for the residents who live in our assisted and independent living communities and the patients at our short-term rehabilitation and skilled nursing homes.

Our Mission

As a local, faith-based, not-for-profit organization, our mission to provide a continuum of services that supports health, independence, dignity, and choice, is supported by five core values: Respect, Spirituality, Excellence, Collaboration, and Stewardship.

Values in Action

Each year United Methodist Homes provides a “Values in Action” award in recognition of employees who have demonstrated extraordinary behavior that exemplifies these core values. All employees are eligible to be nominated or to nominate any of their team members. Staff are encouraged to nominate their co-workers who demonstrate any or all of the UMH core values.

One individual from each of our communities is chosen to receive the award, which is presented at our annual Employee Recognition Celebration dinner in October. Award winners are recognized with a monetary award and a trophy and praised by their supervisors for their outstanding character and service.

• Anna Wieglus (Dining Services) - Middlewoods of Farmington (Farmington, CT)
• Joshua Andrews (Dining Services) - Middlewoods of Newington (Newington, CT)
• Dorothy Anschau (Nursing) - Crosby Commons at Wesley Village (Shelton, CT)
• Barbara Vinson (Wellness) - Foxbridge Assisted Living and Memory Care Community (Memphis, TN)

Also honored at the annual Employee Recognition Celebration dinner were 37 employees who were recognized for their length of service of 10 years, 15 years, 20 years, 25, 30, 35, 40 , and 45 years with United Methodist Homes. We also acknowledged 27 employees for 5 years of service to the organization. A staff appreciation video was created with the help of our residents and a few of our board members and presented at the event. Click here to watch the video!
