Celebrating our Veterans
At UMH, it is our honor to be a place many veterans call home. We can never show enough gratitude for their service to our country. One day of celebrations is never enough to acknowledge the sacrifices our veterans have made for our freedom. Here are some of the ways we are honoring our veterans:
Crosby Commons Assisted Living Community
-
Crosby Commons will be celebrating veterans throughout the entire week of November 11th-15th with a special ceremony featuring a reading of our veterans’ personal stories. Girl Scout Troop 60032 will be baking cookies and delivering them to our veterans.
-
Crosby Commons is also proud to be a part of the Veteran’s History Project. Staff and volunteers work with veterans to create a first-hand account of their military service. By making video recordings, capturing oral histories and displaying photos, journals, letters, official military documents, maps and other artifacts; we help to preserve a part of history to share with generations to come.
-
On Wednesday, November 13th, Dawn Waldron, Veterans’ Services Officer, will be offering a lecture on the Veterans’ Aid and Attendance program, which provides benefits for veterans and their spouses. For specific questions and to apply on line for these benefits, please visit http://www.va.gov/healthbenefits/online/. If you would like to speak with a member of our staff who has helped connect veterans and their families with these resources, please contact the UMH community closest to you.
Foxbridge Assisted Living and Memory Care Community
