Meet Marie Pelletier!
Marie was born on January 13th in 1928, “way up north in Maine”. She grew up on a farm in Saint John, Maine, where she would help her family take care of the animals and crops. As she grew older, Marie became a teacher and taught children in kindergarten through grade three. When she taught school she would have to walk very far to and from work. For five years she taught in Fort Kent, Maine, in a two-room school to children in kindergarten through grade four. She also worked at a blood bank for a very long time where she would organize the blood samples and manage the phlebotomists.
Having lived in northern Maine, Marie can speak French and is quite used to the cold weather. She has lived in Connecticut for several years now and doesn’t think that the winters in southern New England are anything to talk about it. She is a member of St. Mary’s Church in Newington and enjoys singing, rock collecting, exercising, playing cards, crafting, fishing, and participating in the variety of activities available at Middlewoods of Newington, where she now lives. Marie has a great sense of humor and loves to wear silly hats and costumes and doesn’t mind being on stage or in front of the camera for fun events like talent shows or videos.
She also likes to travel and loves visiting new places. One of her favorite trips was her visit to Egypt. When Marie was in Egypt she had the opportunity to ride a camel and tour the inside of one of the great pyramids! Inside the pyramid, she remembers the many pictures, or hieroglyphics, on the walls and many other interesting artifacts. She enjoyed the trip immensely and has several pictures to prove it.
