Happily Ever Aging
...a UMH Senior Living Blog
Everything you need to know about caring for your loved one - at home or at a senior living community.
Pierre Kennedy may seem like an average New Englander when you first meet him; he was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts- a town right by the border of New Hampshire where he loved to go on hikes through the woods as a Boy Scout and skate on the lake with his older brother. Then, Pierre moved to Connecticut, where he lived in Rockville and West Hartford, ultimately settling in at Middlewoods of Farmington, where he has lived for the past three years.

This funny poem was originally shared with us by Reverend Lyman “Bud” Taylor, a longtime resident of our Wesley Heights community. Bud came across the poem in his readings one day and thought it might be enjoyed by the older adults who live at Wesley Village, many of whom can relate to the changes of “old age”. Bud passed away in December 2012, but is still fondly remembered at Wesley Village. He and his wife Marian lived at Wesley Heights over ten years. The poem was recently shared again in the July/August 2014 edition of the Wesley Village Gazette, a campus publication produced by Wesley Heights’ resident, Lisa Ann Sorlie. Special thanks to Lisa for passing along the poem….

This poem was uncovered by Sue Alexander, Secretary of the United Methodist Church of Clinton, CT, while cleaning out her office and sorting through papers. It was sent to Reverend Jim Stinson, Director of Spiritual Life for UMH, and he was anxious to share it with us this week.
