Newington, CT (October 22, 2015) - Aida Colon, an employee at Middlewoods of Newington Assisted and Independent Living Community, was recently recognized by United Methodist Homes (UMH) as a winner of the organization’s annual Values in Action Award! The award, presented at UMH’s annual Employee Recognition Celebration dinner on October 8th, is given in recognition of employees who have demonstrated extraordinary behavior that exemplifies the organization’s core values of Respect, Spirituality, Excellence, Collaboration, and Stewardship.
All employees are eligible to be nominated and to nominate any of their team members who demonstrate these core values. One individual from each of United Methodist Homes’ communities is chosen to receive the award and Aida Colon, a staff member in the dining services department at Middlewoods of Newington, was chosen to receive this year’s award. She was recognized with a monetary award and a trophy and praised by her supervisor, Executive Director, Stacy Kesl, for her outstanding character and service.
Aida was nominated for the award for her commitment to building and nurturing resident relationships and her willingness to help in any situation. She lovingly cares for our residents’ home and provides consistent and compassionate care, bridging generation gaps and creating meaningful connections between people of different ages, backgrounds, and cultures. She reveals her passion for helping others and making a difference at every opportunity – by tirelessly dedicating herself to enhancing the life’s journey of each member of the Middlewoods family.
