Residents and staff at Middlewoods of Farmington Independent and Assisted Living Community welcomed the Farmington High School Jazz Combo for a special performance on Thursday, April 23rd. Students entertained the community audience with favorite songs from a variety of artists, including a fun arrangement by The Beach Boys, and afterward took time to visit and chat with the residents.

UMH is once again the proud recipient of 3 Connecticut Assisted Living Association (CALA) Awards for 2014. UMH’s Crosby Commons Assisted Living Community was recognized with a Best Practices Award in Managed Residential Services for their award-winning program, The Crosby Commons Express. Their Middlewoods of Farmington community was also recognized with the Humanitarian Award, which honored Activities Director, Ginny Brown. In addition to both of the individual community awards, UMH was recognized with the 2014 CALA Media Award for their e-book resource, The ABC’s of Assisted Living.

United Methodist Homes’ mission and values focus on the importance of providing a continuum of services that support health, independence and dignity. As we looked at the health care services available on the Wesley Village campus, it became clear that we needed to add an important piece; specialized dementia care in an assisted living setting. This opportunity and the pursuit of expanding our care became a focus of our strategic planning.
