United Methodist Homes Wins Three CALA Best Practices Awards for 2016

 The Connecticut Assisted Living Association (CALA) recently selected United Methodist Homes (UMH) as the recipient of three of their Annual Best Practices awards for 2016! UMH, a mission based, not-for-profit organization, with independent and assisted living communities in Newington and Farmington, as well as Shelton, CT, were presented these prestigious awards at CALA’s 21^st Annual Meeting and Awards Program held at the Aqua Turf in Southington on Wednesday, December 7^th.

Crosby Commons, a community owned and operated by UMH, located in Shelton, CT, was selected for the Managed Residential Services Award for their “Law Appreciation Day” where residents hosted a lunch for local police officers. UMH also won the Marketing Best Practices Award for their “Caregiver Link”, a one-stop-shopping online resource center for caregivers. The Best Practices Award for Staff Recruitment and Retention was given to United Methodist Homes for their Supervisor Training Program in which the Farmington and Newington staff, as well as other staff across the company, participated. This program was unique in its conception, utilizing a work team to identify areas to train staff, with a focus on promoting the company’s mission of building relationships. A series of 8-hour retreats were planned and supervisors attended, sharing stories, role playing, and reviewing additional resources to further promote excellence in their important work. United Methodist Homes is honored to have been chosen for such esteemed awards.
